Braden River (Bradenton, Florida) offensive guard Alex Salguero has been committed to Marshall for over four months, but that hasn’t stopped schools like Western Kentucky and Army, who both have offered, and Wake Forest from continuing to pursue the 6-foot-2, 310-pound senior.

“It’s great,” Salguero said of his recruiting process. “A few more schools have offered me, but I’m 110 percent with Marshall.”

“I am completely done. I am going to Marshall.”

What continues to make Marshall the best place for Salguero to continue his student-athlete career?

“The school is great and the coaches are amazing,” Salguero said. “They are the best coaches I have ever gotten to speak with, so I’ll stick with them for the next four years.”

Salguero is in constant contact with the Marshall staff, especially his future position coach Alex Mirabal.

”He’s brought me in as one of his own already,” Salguero said of Mirabal. “He introduced me to his family when I was up there. I met all the players with him. He keeps me in the loop with everything.”

The Floridian was active on the recruiting trail for a while for the Herd, but has since backed off and is letting things happen on their own.

“I tried, but you know how kids are,” Salguero said. “They don’t know what they want to do yet.”

Salguero recently received an invitation to play in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl in Tampa Bay, which is one of three games with the other two in Dallas and Jacksonville. He is the fourth Marshall commit to be selected for one of the three games.

“It’s a great honor,” Salguero said. “It shows that my hard work has finally paid off.”

“It’s pretty cool. I get to play one more game as a high schooler and hopefully the talent will be a lot better than some of the schools I played during the season so I get to see how I rank.”

What are his expectations for the game?

“To win and to hopefully have some good plays against some good defensive linemen,” Salguero said.

When asked if he had anything else to add Salguero said: “I just want to say go Herd”

Salguero will not be taking any more visits.
