Marshall Lands Two in Top 5 on C-USA Championship Day 1

TEXARKANA, Ark. – Marshall golfers Clark Robinson (South Windsor, Conn.) and Logan Lagodich (Canton, Ohio) reached the top 5 on the first day of the Conference USA Championship on Sunday at Texarkana Country Club.

Robinson tied for second with a 3-under-par 69, his lowest round since a 67 at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate on Nov. 1, 2015. His score put him five strokes out of first place. Lagodich finished the day one stroke behind Robinson at 2-under 70, tying for fourth with four other golfers.

As a team, the Herd shot a 4-over 292 to tie for third place with North Texas and Old Dominion, seven strokes out of the lead.

ON THE LEADERBOARD

UAB shot a 3-under 285 to take the Day 1 lead. The Blazers’ Taylor Eyster shot an 8-under 64 for the individual advantage.

Quotes from head coach Matt Grobe: On the Herd’s first round: “Clark [Robinson] and Logan [Lagodich] really played good golf today. The conditions were tough and they both put together solid rounds. As a team, we are in good shape after the first day. Hopefully we can come out tomorrow and build off today’s round.”

UP NEXT
