Great visit led to commitment from Cardinal Gibbons (FL) standout

Just visit. You'll love it. That's the message defensive backs coach Mike Treier kept repeating over and over to Sidney Porter ever since Marshall extended a scholarship offer earlier this year.

Turns out he was right.

"Coach Treier has been telling me throughout my entire recruiting process that I was going to love it up at Marshall," Porter told HN. " And as soon as I stepped foot on campus I met some of the staff and I felt very appreciated and welcomed! The atmosphere was unbelievable."

Porter loved his visit so much he struggled to pick a favorite moment from his time in Huntington: "Favorite part of the trip? There wasn't just one thing. I loved it all so much I had to commit"

Marshall is recruiting Porter to play the Stud/Nickel Linebacker position, which Porter feels fits what he does best very well. "I'm strong in coverage, a sure tackler and I play with high intensity. I love hearing those pads cracking!"

Porter picked the Herd over offers from Appalachian State, Kansas, FAU, Florida A&M and UT-Martin. Porter has no plans to take additional visits and told HN he plans to sign in December.
