Doc Holliday and his staff secured the signatures of 30 prospects as part of the 2018 recruiting class. As the spring semester gets going, Herd Nation wanted to get a better look at each of them from more of a “behind the scenes” perspective.
Interests
HN: What do you do in your spare time?
CM: If I'm not working on my craft I usually transfer over to basketball and have fun with my peers.
HN: What food do you like the best?
CM: Lasagna.
HN: Do you have a favorite movie?
CM: How the Grinch Stole Christmas or Like Mike.
HN: What type of music do you listen to and who is your favorite musical artist?
CM: I tend to listen to hip hop and R&B. My favorite artists are J. Cole and Lauryn Hill.
HN: Do you have a nickname?
CM: No nickname.
HN: Do you have a major picked out yet?
CM: I would like to major in sports medicine.
Thoughts and opinions
HN: Who is your favorite football player of all-time?
CM: LaDanian Tomlinson.
HN: Do you have a pre-game ritual?
CM: I only drink cool blue Gatorade on game days and I don't eat at all that day. I'm not sure why!
HN: What position will you be playing at Marshall?
CM: I will be playing WR.
HN: What will you bring to Marshall as far as a strong point?
CM: I'm a quiet person but I feel that I'm the type of player to come in every day and do what's asked of me.
HN: What is the one thing you need to work on to play at the next level?
CM: I want to work on consistency, not only on the field but in life. I just want to stay focused because I know it's very easy to take everything for granted and fall off.
A look at the recruiting process
HN: What one thing was the determining factor in your picking Marshall?
CM: It's a place to call home. A place full of history and tradition.
HN: What are your thoughts on the Marshall coaching staff?
CM: The coaches seem like pretty cool guys but I can tell when it is time to work no games will be tolerated.
HN: Is there a Marshall coach that you feel especially close to?
CM: I am forming a bond with my position coach Dallas Baker. We come from the same place with the same story.
HN: What was the best part of your official visit to Marshall?
CM: I would have to say that meeting the players was the best part of my visit. They made it clear that they all played for one another and they have formed inseparable bonds. That's something I want to be a part of.
Future and goals
HN: What number would you like to wear at Marshall?
CM: I would like to wear #2 or #5. I say this my sophomore year of high school I had two coaches tell me to my face I had a 0% chance of playing college football. 5 is because LT wore that at TCU and that's something that stuck with me over the years.
HN: What are your goals for your first year in college?
CM: My goal for my freshman year in college is to maintain a 3.5 GPA and break at least one of Randy Moss's records..
HN: What would you like to say to Marshall fans?
CM: I am looking forwards to carrying on the tradition of the Thundering Herd! It is a dream come true to be able to say that I am going to be a college student athlete. Going to Marshall only makes it bigger and better! Go Herd!
