Dykstra gets better vs. top competition
Rock Valley (Iowa) power forward Jordan Dykstra made short work of the recruiting process back in November when he committed to Iowa State - before playing even his first high school basketball game. The 2010 prospect from the northwest corner of Iowa went on to have a strong 9th-grade season for Rock Valley and now he's busy with a lot of basketball this summer.
The 6-foot-9, 240-pound Dykstra camped at ISU last weekend, arriving late on Saturday night before quickly getting himself ready to play and participating in the last of Saturday's action and all of Sunday's play. But he had a good excuse for being late - he was just rolling in from St. Louis and an appearance at the invitation-only Nike Hoop Jamboree. Dykstra said he started slow but eventually caught up with all the elite talent at the Nike event.
